Diverticulum is a pouch like extension from the outer layer of the intestine. Multiple diverticuli in the intestine is termed DIVERTICULOSIS. Left side large intestine is the common site of diverticulosis followed by right sided colon. Diverticuli are seen in the small intestines also. Jejunum and duodenum diverticuli uncommon.
Diverticulosis Symptoms-

Ulcerative Colitis (UC) is an inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) a disease of Colon and Rectum with multiple bleeding ulcers and inflammation.
Ulcerative Colitis Symptoms-

Crohns disease (CD )is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) a condition affecting the junction small intestine, large intestine and ILEOCAECAL region.
Crohns Disease Symptoms-
Abdomen pain colicky long term and repeated episodes, Small Bowel Obstruction, Blood in stools and Constipation
Diagnosis of Crohns disease and Abdomen Tuberculosis is overlapping and difficult.
Diagnosis is done CT scan of the abdomen, Colonoscopy, Gastroscopy and biopsy.
Treatment is largely medical and select patients need surgery,
Indications for Surgery in Crohns Disease-
1. Repeated Subacute intestinal Obstruction
2. Persistent Abdomen Pain
3.Bleeding and Perforation
4. Doubtful Cancer
5. Difficulty to differentiate from Tuberculosis

Rectal Prolapse means part of rectum comes out of anus. Finger is required to evacuate or replace the rectum.
Symptoms-
The usual symptoms are constipation, need to repose part with finger blood in stools and difficulty to control motion (Incontinence).
Diagnosis is established by Physical Examination by Colorectal Surgeon, Colonoscopy and MRI Defecography.
Treatment depends upon the symptoms
usually Surgery that can be done open or laparoscopic surgery. Laparoscopic Rectopexy is a common treatment for Rectal Prolapse. Elderly frail patients are offered local treatment of suture fixation and one with ulcer bleeding and large protrusion require Resection of Colon.

Acute appendicitis is an inflammation of an appendix a part of large intestine arising near near the junction of large and small intestines (Ileo-Caecal (IC) Junction). Appendicits Symptoms-
Sudden onset pain in right lower abdomen or umblical region is the commonest complaint one experiences. Fever nausea and change in bowel movements are other symptoms.
Diagnosis is done by Sonography and CT scan of the abdomen.
Treatment is done by Surgery - Laparoscopic Appendicectomy. Few patients respond to conservative management otherwise surgery is the treatment of choice. If neglected complications can be dangerous like sepsis abscess major risky complicated expensive surgery and even death.
