Gallstone or Cholelithiasis means formation of stones in the Gallbladder. Gallstone is a common problem all over world. Gallstones form because of high cholesterol, calcium pigments and multiple factors.
Gallbladder Stone Symptoms

Gallbladder Symptoms are indigestion, bloating of abdomen pain in Right or Upper abdomen, jaundice, and inflammation of Gallbladder (Cholecystitis)
As complications like acute cholecystitis (Swelling and inflammation of GB), jaundice and fever (cholangitis) , recurrent pain in abdomen, acute pancreatitis because of passage of stone, or infection of GB (empyema) or perforation of GB can occur. Choledocholithiasis or Bile Duct Stone (CBD Stones) means the stones in the bile duct usually come from Gallbladder Stones . CBD Stones occur in 10-15% of Cholelithiasis (Gallstones) patients.
Bile duct Stone Symptoms/ Choledocholithiasis Symptoms-
Almost 25-30 % of the patients with Gallbladder stones experience severe pain in the right side or upper abdomen and pain going to to back. These patients come in emergency and probable cause is stone stuck at the neck of the gallbladder causing acute cholecystitis, stone stationed or passed through the bile duct or stone sitting at the junction of common bile duct and pancreatic duct causing acute pancreatitis, Person with these symptoms need immediate medical care.
Choledocholithiasis Diagnosis
is done by Abnormal Liver Function Tests, USG Abdomen, MRI Abdomen MRCP and ERCP.
Choledocholithiasis Treatment-
CBD Stones are treated primarily by Endoscopy ERCP and Gallstones are treated primarily by Surgery - Cholecystectomy.
ERCP is an Endoscopy Procedure to remove the Bile Duct Stones and place the Stent to achieve bile flow into the duodenum. ERCP followed by Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy is the standard procedure for CBD stones and Gallbladder Stones.
Delay or neglect can land patients in life threatening serious medical conditions like cholangitis pancreatitis and cholecystitis.
If ERCP is unsuccessful in removing CBD stones then Surgery is needed for Choledocholithiasis and Cholecystolithiasis.

Causes of Jaundice-

Treatment -
First thing is to establish the diagnosis of tumour. Most of the benign tumours do not require surgery. But symptomatic and cancer need surgery.
