Spleenomegaly is an enlargement of the spleen. The spleen is an organ of the immune system and plays role in filtering and refining the blood cell functions. Spleenomegaly is common after infections, malaria and Kalaazar. These spleen rarely require operation. Spleenomegaly because of the haematological conditions like Thalaasemia, Haemolytic Anaemia, Luekemia ITP is not uncommon.
